Welcome to the Center for North American Studies (ZNAS)
The Center for North American Studies (ZNAS) crosses the boundaries between various academic disciplines and is an interdisciplinary union of scholars who investigate and teach North American literature, linguistics, politics, ecomics, sociology, geography, cultural studies, and history. The ZNAS offers lecture series, seminars, guest lectures, readings, and conferences which deal with issues related to North America. Bachelor students can do their distributive requirements (Profil Fachergänzung) in our center whereas students studying in our traditional programs (Magister Artium and Staatsexamen) can receive a certificate after having participated in our study program.
However, the Center for North American Studies is not only open to students and community members, but to anyone interested in our events and topics. We are looking forward to seeing you.

14.12.11: Presentation and Discussion in English - "Drew Hayden Taylor – Native Canadian Story Teller and Dramatist"
21.12.2011 15:58
On December, 14th, the Native Canadian playwright and storyteller Drew Hayden Taylor paid a visit to the Center for North American Studies. In his extremely entertaining talk on the development of Native Canadian theatre towards an institution that acknowledges the mere presence of humour, Taylor allowed the audience to take an interesting - and humorous - look behind the scenes. Having contributed a lot to this development with his own work, Taylor knew how to amuse his audience with anecdotes from his own career. In doing so, he offered the participants a presentation that in itself could best be described as a truly humorous performance. Thank you very much for this act!
